Friends of Stable Swamp Creek
(F.O.S.S.C.) are a group of motivated local
residents whose aim is to restore the positive qualities of
Stable Swamp Creek whilst addressing:
- Flooding
- Water quality
- Corridor and Catchment protection
- Bank Stabilisation
- Wildlife habitat protection
- Beautification of the surrounding area
Our aim is to enlighten the local community regarding these
issues and their eventual solutions.
Brisbane-wide support
network
We have established links with like-minded groups,
such as Oxley Creek Catchment Association and
Waterwatch, enabling us to access further information and
expertise.
Water Testing
With the assistance of two local volunteers and Waterwatch,
F.O.S.S.C. conducts monthly water testing to check the
condition of creek water, aquatic plants and animals. This also
provides early detection of water pollution.
Regular water testing enables us to build up a profile of the
creek and this information is shared with the Oxley Creek
Catchment Association enabling them to manage our waterways
more wisely.
Volunteers
Needed
F.O.S.S.C. are seeking volunteers or anyone expressing an
interest in the restoration of Stable Swamp Creek.
