1 TIMOTHY

“Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” (Psalm   119:18) When Spirit   of Truth Comes In To Your Life He Will Lead You to ALL the Truth.” (John   16: 13)

Some notes and comments on various Biblical texts some have used to promote the doctrine of the Trinity. The main approach that will be used to arrive at a proper balanced view of these texts is based on the FACT that the Bible interprets itself.

AS THE ABOVE STATEMENT SAYS = WE WILL LITERALLY BE DOING EXACTLY THAT - THERE WILL BE SO MUCH BIBLE CITED SO THAT YOU CAN GET THE BIG PICTURE OF WHAT GOD'S
WORD IS REALLY SAYING.

 1 Timothy 3:16

"Indeed, the sacred secret of this godly devotion is admittedly great:   'He was made   manifest in     flesh, was declared righteous in spirit, appeared to angels, was   preached about among   nations, was believed upon in [the] world, was received up in   glory.'" AS IT IS RENDERED IN NIV FROM VERSE 15:

"IF I AM DELAYED, YOU WILL KNOW HOW PEOPLE OUGHT TO CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN GOD’S HOUSEHOLDS, OF WHICH IS THE CHURCH OF   THE LIVING GOD, THE PILLAR AND FOUNDATION OF THE TRUTH.

16   BEYOND ALL QUESTION, THE MYSTERY OF GODLINESS IS GREAT: HE APPEARED IN A BODY, WAS VINDICATED BY THE SPIRIT, WAS SEEN BY   ANGELS, WAS PREACHED AMONG THE NATIONS, WAS BELIEVED ON IN   THE WORLD, WAS TAKEN UP IN GLORY.”

Some translations translate this passage as "God was manifest in the  flesh..." is this true?

[PLEASE NOTE THE WORDS VERY CAREFULLY IN NIV TRANSCRIPT]. Does the word God appear in the original text? The   Alexandrine text   is the ancient manuscript that the reading of "God was manifest....."   was based on. In this   ancient codex, the word that was written   at 1 Timothy 3:16 was written as "God." But in this ancient codex, the contraction for  "God," formed by two Greek letters, originally read (in older more reliable  manuscripts) as the   word for  "who." Obviously, this meant that Christ Jesus was not "God." Many  scholars have   testified to this   fact concerning 1 Timothy 3:16. Notice what Bruce M. Metzger in his  Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament had to say concerning 1 Timothy 3:16 and the question of the use of the word "God" in the text: "No uncial (in the first hand) earlier than the eighth or ninth century.....supports theos, all ancient versions presuppose [God] and no patristic writer prior to the last third of the fourth century testifies to the reading [theos]."

DEAR READERS THE AUTHOR IS REFERRING TO VERSE 16, BUT THE WORD “GOD” HE IS TALKING ABOUT IS IN THE VERSE 15. EVEN NWT AGREES WITH THIS.

AS IT IS IN THE NWT =  “BUT IN CASE I AM DELAYED, THAT YOU MAY KNOW HOW YOU OUGHT TO CONDUCT YOURSELF IN “GOD’S” HOUSEHOLD, WHICH IS THE CONGREGATION OF THE LIVING GOD, A PILLAR AND SUPPORT OF THE TRUTH.”

VERSES 15 & 16  AS THEY ARE APPEAR IN  THE NWT KIT:

"IF EVER - BUT - I MAY BE SLOW - IN ORDER THAT YOU MAY KNOW - HOW  - IT IS  BINDING - IN - HOUSEHOLD - OF GOD - TO BE TURNING SELF UP - WHICH - IS - ECCLESIA - OF GOD - LIVING - PILLAR - AND - SUPPORT - OF THE -  TRUTH - 16 - AND - CONFESSEDLY - GREAT - IS - THE  - OF - THE - REVERING WELL - MYSTERY - WHO - WAS MANIFESTED - IN - THE - FLESH - WAS JUSTIFIED - IN - SPIRIT - WAS SEEN - TO ANGELS - - WAS PREACHED - IN - NATIONS - WAS BELIEVED - IN - WORLD - WAS TAKEN UP - IN - GLORY."

NOTE THAT NWT KIT TELLS US THAT "HE" WAS MANIFESTED IN FLESH ...  WAS TAKEN UP IN GLORY IN VERSE 16 - NOW ASK YOUR SELF THIS - TO WHOM WOULD THIS BE REFERRING TO?

Most translations available to day, use the word "He" with reference to Jesus Christ as the one who came to earth and offered up his life a ransom in exchange for many. This is because they use older, more accurate manuscripts that do not use the word "God" in the text.

OK – DEAR READERS – AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE VERSE 15 – NWT ALSO USES THE WORD “GOD.”  ANOTHER INTERESTING FACT IS THIS – THE “GOD” THAT IS REFERRED TO IN VERSE 15 IS  CONGREGATION” OR HOUSEHOLD” & THE PILLAR & FOUNDATION OF THE TRUTH.

THE ONE & ONLY PILLAR {CORNER STONE} IS JESUS HIMSELF. SO THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE ABOVE PASSAGE REFERS TO JESUS AGAIN. VERSE 16 TELLS US “HE” {GOD FROM VERSE 15} APPEARED IN THE “FLESH.”

HOW DID GOD APPEAR IN THE FLESH?????

IN THE PERSON OF “JESUS”  HIMSELF, AND IT WAS JESUS WHO WAS TAKEN UP BACK TO THE FATHER IN HEAVEN.

WHEN YOU CROSS REFERENCE IN NWT FROM THE WORD “HE” {VERSE 16 IN NWT} IT TELLS US THAT WE SHOULD LOOK BACK TO JOHN 1:14 & THERE WE READ:

“SO THE WORD BECAME FLESH AND RESIDED AMONG US, AND WE HAD A VIEW OF HIS GLORY, A GLORY SUCH AS BELONGS TO ONLY – BEGOTTEN SON FROM A FATHER; AND HE WAS FULL OF DESERVED KINDNESS AND TRUTH.”

PLEASE NOTE THAT NWT TELLS US THAT THIS “GOD” IS JESUS FROM OUR CROSS-REFERENCE.

SEE ALSO THE SECOND CROSS REFERENCE JOHN  8: 14 WHERE JESUS IS TALKING ABOUT WHERE HE COME FROM & ABOUT HIS WITNESS.

DO WE HAVE TO SAY ANY MORE? NO! AS IT IS JESUS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IN ALL PASSAGES.

JESUS TELLS US IN LUKE 22:19

DO YOU DO THAT??
