About Coffee Skate

Home Page

Coffee Skate is quite different from a regular Public Session. It is a quieter skating session with a pleasant social environment where skaters of all levels and abilities come to practice and interact with each other. Many become regulars and attend either one or both sessions every week. Afterwards we get together over coffee to discuss things relating to skating, or whatever else comes to mind.

You are able to have private individual or group lessons during Coffee Skate sessions. Usually you will need to make arrangements in advance with one of Iceworld's professional coaches, although sometimes a coach already attending the session will have time available.

There is quite a bit of interest in Ice Dance and some of our group are taking private Ice Dance lessons. From 12:00 to 12:30 there is a segment of music for beginners' Ice Dance so that anyone who wants to can practice. (Previously there was also a segment of advanced ice dance music earlier in the session if advanced dancers were present, but at present this has been withdrawn - as from 6 October 2005.)

Coffee Skate also includes activities that are organised by the participants rather than Iceworld, for example social functions where everybody brings a plate of food to share.

If you share an interest in skating, please come and enjoy the sessions with us. You will be amongst other skating enthusiasts of all levels and abilities. Beginner skaters are welcome - you can learn to skate at the sessions.
