About the author

Grahame C. Jones, born in 1938, was Professor of French and Pro-Vice-Chancellor designate at the University of New England when he died of cancer in 1987. A scholar of international reputation, he was an outstanding person in many ways, in his personal relationships, his intellectual grasp and career. He had a delightful sense of humour, a gentle ironic view of the world and the absurdity of life, but a will to live and derive as much from life and from serving others as he could.

His Journal, has been hailed as one of the best books written about cancer from the patient's point of view and one most capable of providing strength and inspiration to cancer sufferers, their families and their carers. It is also a literary achievement, a remarkable specimen of autobiography and a deeply inspirational text for all readers.

This book, edited by Ken Dutton, is the second volume in the Kelveriana Series, established in honour of Kelver Hartley, late Professor of French at the University of Newcastle, who bequeathed his fortune to his University in order to assist promising students of French.
