BRIDGE SHOWCASE - THE FIRST STEPS
THE BEST BOOKS FOR NEW PLAYERS
I recommend you read the following books after you've completed your basic bridge
classes, if you want to improve your game. They cover various aspects of the main three areas
in bridge - bidding, declarer play and defence.

The Fun Way to Advanced Bridge by Harry
Lampert is the first book I would recommend to a bridge student after their basic lessons.
It covers slightly more advanced topics in bidding, simple conventions, declarer play and
defence. Learning is fun because of the cartoon presentation, which explains the
material clearly.

The Fun Way to Better Bridge Play, by Harry Lampert
This book covers the most basic plays of suit development, finesses, ruffing etc.
Notrump play and suit contracts are considered separately, and in a separate chapter there are even a few
mildly advanced techniques such as the end play, and loser on loser play. Defense is also covered,
with opening leads , third hand play and signals all introduced. The highly diagrammatic
presentation in cartoon format makes for easier learning and a pleasant read.
