So... What happens next, beyond November 30, 2002? Some words from our Owner/Manager:
For all those who are curious, here're a few of my plans for the future...
I'm going to keep the business name ("Synapse Computers") registered for the time being, and although I will no longer operate a public computer shop,
I may still keep some degree of support available via this internet site (which I unfortunately had neglected for many years up until just recently).
I'll still be holding onto a lot of my own private Amiga hardware and software, and I undoubtably have almost every "Install Disk" for most classic
Amiga products which I may make available to those in need who ask (subject to copyright limitations).
I have personally owned an Amiga computer since 1988, and still to this day I feel it was the single biggest advance in computing history in terms of
efficiency and reliability for a computer of its time. The Amiga is still my preferred computer to program on (I prefer 680x0 Assembly and BASIC as my
two languages of choice), and even though IBM compatible hardware may seem necessary to run a lot of today's peripherals and software, I've been delighted
to have the best of both worlds thanks to Cloanto's "Amiga Forever" product. I still regularly run most of my favourite
Amiga applications (on an AMD Athlon-based IBM compatible computer), and am very satisfied with the performance and compatibility of Amiga Forever.
I've made a living from computers since leaving High School in 1989, and find it very difficult to remember even a single day since then without
being exposed to computers in one way or another. I remember spending as much as 72 hours (yes, you read it right) during a school week in front of
my computer (a Vic-20 initially, then a Commodore 64, before my first Amiga, an Amiga 500) completely absorbed and devoted to learning everything I could to
get the most from using computers. I have many, many fond memories (and probably a lot of lost sleep to catch up on!!).
But things do change with time, and today I find my true passion lies in a completely different area. I'm now fascinated to the point of obsession with making
money via trading Share "Options" on the Australian Stock Exchange, along with investing in residential real estate as well. I seem to have always had a very logical
way of thinking, along with a very mathematically-minded approach to how I organise my own finances and investments. In my free time over the last 10 years or so,
I've become like a sponge or magnet to every book, course and seminar that I could find on self-development (with a focus on financial improvement), with the ultimate
view of early retirement with complete financial independance.
I'm at a point with my investment knowledge where I am considering writing a book and as well hoping to organise getting together with other motivated, financially
hungry people who have a keen interest in looking after their own financial future. I feel if a number of like-minded people discussed their experiences (both the
good and the bad), as a group we would all benefit as ideas were bounced off each other. I know that it's only a small minority of people in this world that end up completely
financially satisfied, but I think it's mostly through lack of knowledge or discouragement from others that hold people back from moving forwards in leaps and bounds
financially. If you've had an experience with shares, share options, or properties that you'd like to talk about, I'd love to hear it! I'd be more than happy to share some of
my own tales (both good and bad), and I absolutely guarantee you I have ideas and financial/investment knowledge that exceeds what many people gather even over a whole lifetime
(hence my reason for considering writing a book).
The majority of news and media reports we hear most of the time focus on the negative extremes of what happens in life. I generally find the newspaper along with most journalistic
programs on TV are a complete waste of time, not to mention even potentially damaging to one's confidence about investing and moving forward in life. My belief is that we should FOCUS on the positive,
and let the negative just be the small stepping stones along the way to a much better destination. I am convinced that your attitude to a situation determines at least 90% of
what actually happens... Whatever you believe is the most likely outcome will tend to become the most likely outcome! (Unfortunately some beliefs are held at a level in our mind
where we're not consciously aware of them, and this can be one of the biggest obstacles of all to change one's life for the better until we understand it). But irregardless, I
know a happier life is available to anyone who puts the effort into learning more about themselves and why things happen in life the way they do. I generally DO NOT believe in simple "luck".
I believe in probabilities, and in the mind's amazing ability to link into opportunities (although not always good ones) which you have been focusing on at some level. Where we end up in life is based 99.99%
on the decisions and actions we take during our life. Very little is based on anything else. A "rich" person or a "poor" person are still both human beings, and all they have to influence this world are their
own actions (or lack thereof). It doesn't matter where you're starting from or what you're starting with - the first thing you need to believe 100% is YOU are completely responsible for whereever you are in life,
as well as whereever you want to be. It's not upto anyone or anything else!
Looks like I've started my book already!! Enough on this for now... If you KNOW there's more to life than what you have now, but you're not 100% sure on what you can do to make it happen,
I encourage, in fact I insist, you drop me an Email on this topic. I may just have a simple suggestion of a book to read that might be life-changing, or perhaps a whole new approach to a way of
investing that you might have thought about but dismissed. Anything's possible, and you have everything to gain and nothing to lose by expanding your knowledge. This is now what I want to do. I want to
discuss the amazing financial opportunities that become available once people expand their knowledge, and I want to see us focusing on the positives in life and generally being as happy as we can be,
irregardless of what the news is telling us or the problems we "think" we have no solutions for. Those who know me personally will say I'm not your typical person, and I certainly don't follow the crowd
and do the typical things most people do. I don't even think the typical thoughts most people do. Say hello, ask me a question, tell me a story - your whole life could be about to change for the better.
That's if I've got anything to do with it! The right way of thinking can improve every single aspect of your life.
P.S. I'm not into any particular religion or cult, and I don't want your money. In fact, right now I could retire if I want to and my investments would be working well enough to give me all the income
I could ever personally need for the rest of my life. But I want to earn more, as I want to be able to do much more - one of my goals is to significantly help out two specific charities involved in
medical research. For me, increasing my wealth gives me a chance to make some differences I'd like to see in this world. Of course it's also a pleasure to treat yourself along the way, too! Whatever happens,
not having to "worry" about money gives you choices. It gives you freedom. It gives you a chance to help others who are less fortunate. Some say "Money is the root of all evil". I tend to think that when
you really stop and think about it, "Not having money is the root of all evil." I'm serious!
P.P.S. Here's a thought to leave you with to get you thinking... Which of the following would you prefer?
1) Receive $1,000.00 per day for 24 days; or
2) Receive just $0.01 (yes, 1 cent!) but have your money double each day for 24 days?
If you had to choose between (1) or (2), which would you choose, and why? Please let me know, I'd love to hear from you!
I've decided to proceed with writing my book, please click here for a preview of it!
