The founder
of the Babiito dynasty was Isingoma Mpuga Rukidi I who ruled in Bunyoro
in the 14th century. Toro was founded in
1830
when the eldest son of the Omukama of Bunyoro rebelled and established

Omubiito Kazana RUHAGA 1860's/1860's, overthrown by his brother
after a very short reign and is therefore not reckoned as
Omukama.

Nyaika Kasunga KYEBAMBE I -/1870 and
1871/1872, overthrown
by his brother with the help of an army given to him by the Kabaka of
Buganda,
and fled to nearby Mboga, in Congo, recaptured his throne after the
mercernary
troops returned home, married (amongst others), Victoria Kahinju, and
had
issue. He died 1872.

Omubiito Mukarusa KYEBAMBE II 1870's, annexed the area of
Busongora,
in the southern end of Toro kingdom, and declared himself king over it,
captured by Omukama KABAREGA of Bunyoro, along with a number of Royal
Princes.

Buganda
soldiers,
he drove Omukama KABAREGA out of Toro, who retaliated by forcing him to

- Omukama Daudi Kasagama KYEBAMBE IV 1891/1928, born
about 1874,
baptized
15th March 1896 in Buganda, M.B.E., married (amongst 52 wives), Damali
Tibaitwa, and had issue. He died 29th December 1928 and was buried 3rd
January
1929 in Karambi.

- Prince Hosea Akiiki Nyabongo Ph.D., F.R.G.S., educated at
Harvard
University

Professor of Philosophy at the University of Alabama in the 1940's, and
later at North Carolina A & T University, where he taught
Philosophy,
Chairman of the Uganda Town and Country Planning Board, married 1955,
Ada
Naomi Paynter, born in Bermuda, and had issue. He died 3rd October 1975.
- Prince Amooti Kyebambe Mukarusa Nyabongo, born in
Brooklyn, New York,
educated
at the Tuskegee University, graduating with a degree in Behavioral
Science,
served in the U.S. Airforce; following which he joined the New York
Police
Department, being assigned to the 81st and 90th precincts, to the
department's
recruiting section as a recruiter, and in the aviation unit as a police
pilot, also served as a police instructor. He holds commercial pilot's
licenses in both fixed wing aircraft
and helicopters.

1929/1965,
born 6th March 1904, served in the King's African Rifles during the
First
World War, where he earned the rank of lieutenant, he married 5 wives,
including Kezia Byanjeru Abwooli, born 1906, she died May 1998, and had
issue, 6 sons and 4 daughters. He died 21st December 1965.
- Princess Elizabeth Bagaaya, born 1943, educated at a
girls' boarding
school
in Uganda, at a boarding school in England, and Cambridge University,
earning
a degree in Law, admitted to the English bar in 1965, and became a
practicing
barrister at law, model for the magazines "Vogue" and "Harpers",
actress,
married 25th April 1981 in Westminster, London, Wilberforce Nyabongo,
born
1956, died sp 1987.

Queen Best Kemigisa, born of the reigning Ababiito clan of Toro, in a
traditional
pastoral village in Toro in the late sixties, daughter of Prince
Mujungu
of Butuku Toro, educated at Mpanga School in Toro, she champions social
causes in Toro such as, women's small scale enterprises, orphans and
children's
concerns, and had issue. He died 26th August 1995 in Fort Portal.
