patron of Art,
Culture
and Education; a sportsman of distinction, member of many committees
and
Organisations. Sponsored Scholarships for deserving students for higher
education. Patronised “Beer Bikram Theatre” of Khariar, the first
permanent
Oriya Stage in the State. Nominated member of Orissa Advisory Council.
Elected to Orissa Legislative Assembly in 1937 and 1946 from Khariar
Assembly
Constituency. Played a pivotal role in formation of Orissa as a
separate
province in the year 1936. It was at his instance and under his
enlightened
leadership that Khariar Zamindari merged with the State of Orissa
leading
to full Statehood, married the second daughter of Raja NARPAT SINGh of
Porahat, and had issue. He died 1946
- Raja ANUP SINGH DEO 1946/-, he was a member of the Orissa
Legislative Assembly for nine terms and was also a Minister in the
Orissa Government on six occasions. He has worked as a Hon.
Recruiting Officer for the British Army during World War II at
Chaudwar, Cuttack. He also undertook training as a honourary magistrate
at Sambalpur in the late 1940's. He has authored 14 books on poetry and
Oriya Literature and was a known literary figure of Orissa. He was
honoured with the title of Kavi Saurabh, by
the Sahitya Kala Akademi of Orissa; married Shrimati
Rani Soubhagya Manjari Devi, daughter
of HH Maharaja BRIJ MOHAN DEB of Kalahandi,
and
had issue, three sons and five daughters.
- Rajkumari Shrimati Jyotsna Devi [Rani Jyotsna Devi of
Baramba], born 1939, married Raja Sri KRISHNA
CHANDRA
Deb Birbar Mangraj Mahapatra of Baramba,
and has issue, two sons and three daughters. She died 1987.

for the flood victims in the 1971 cyclone in the area; spearheaded the
movement in Kendrapara district to set up Girls High School in 1977;
and carried out extensive relief operation in Aul in the 1999 Super
Cyclone; has keen interest in (i) conservation of ancient heritage and
important archeological monuments and (ii) aquaculture activities;
inclined towards experimenting various aquaculture production
activities such as prawn and fisheries in Kendrapara district; Reading,
touring new places, cooking, wildlife
protection and conservation, folk theatre in rural areas and
agriculture; Director, Lift Irrigation
Corporation, Orissa, for three
years; Member, (i) Board of Secondary Education, Orissa, for five
years, (ii) TAC, Orissa, for four years, (iii) Consultative Irrigation
Committee, Orissa for four years and (iv) Sri Vihar Sanskrit
University, Puri (Orissa) for two years; previously associated with the
Janata Dal; married 27th January 1969, Raja SARAT KUMAR DEB of Aul,
and has issue, 2 sons and 1 daughter.
- Rajkumari Asha Poorna Devi, married Kumar Bharat
Bhushan Deo, eldest
son of Pattayet Bir Keshari Deb of Kalahandi,
and has issue, one son and one daughter.
- Rajkumari Sureshwari Devi, married Kumar Ramanuj
Chandra Deo of the Bhaludungri branch of the Bonai Royal family, and
has issue, three sons.
- Rajkumari Tarakeshwari
Devi, married into a branch of the Raidihi family, which is settled at
Baripada, Mayurbhanj, and has issue, one daughter.
