- Sardar Bahadur Sir Sobha Singh, born 1890 in Hadali
Village, Khushab
district,
Sargodha, Punjab (now in Pakistan), educated at Amritsar; a civil
contractor and a prominent builder and real estate owner of Delhi; he
became the
first lndian president of the New Delhi Municipal Committee, appointed
a member of the Council of States; married Lady Sardarni Vira Bai
[Varyam Kaur],
and
had issue, four sons and a daughter. He 18th April 1978 in Delhi. (3 Jantar

Sardar
Khushwant Singh, born 2nd February 1915 in Hadali Village, Khushab
district,
Sargodha;
educated at St. Stephen’s College in Delhi, Government College, Lahore,
and after his graduation, at Kings College, London and then became
Barrister,
Press Attaché with the rank of First Secretary, in 1975; he has
edited Yojana, an Indian
government journal; The Illustrated
Weekly of India, and two major Indian newspapers, The National Herald and the Hindustan Times, he
received
the Padma Bhushan in 1974 (which he returned when the Golden
Temple was
stormed in 1984), Member of the Rajya Sabha 1980/1986, awarded Nishan-e-Khalsa,
awarded
‘The Honest Man of the Year’ in 1995 by Sulabh International, the Punjab Rattan in 2006 by the
Government of Punjab and the Padma
Vibhushan in 2007 by the Government of India; publications
include Train to Pakistan,
1956, A History of the Sikhs,
1963, The Company of Women,
1999, The Illustrated History of the Sikhs, 2006; married
30th
October 1939 in Delhi, Sardarni Kaval Malik, daughter of Sir Teja Singh
Malik,
and has issue.
- Sardar Rahul Singh
- Mala Singh, married Ravi Dayal, born 1938, educated
at Oxford University,
graduating with a Masters in History; joined the Oxford University
Press, working as Editor in
Mumbai and later as head of its Chennai office; he also set up the
OUP's
office in Delhi and remained its Chief Executive Officer for
many years, retiring in 1987, after which he opened his own publishing
company (Ravi Dayal Publishers) in the capital, he died 3rd June 2006;
and has issue, one daughter.
- Sardarni Mohinder Kaur, married Sardar Jaspal Singh
Virk of
Jandiala Guru in Amritsar,
and
had issue, two sons and one daughter.

Sardar Shivinder
Singh Virk, married
Rukhsana Sultana, a socialite and political activist during the
Emergency Era; and
has issue.
- Amrita Singh, born 9th February 1958, made
her Bollywood debut in 1983 with Betaab,
a highly successful film, followed up by a number of other successful
roles, retiring in 1993 to concentrate on her family life; married
October 1991 (sep'd. 2004),
Nawabzada
Saif Ali Khan of Pataudi,
and has issue.

Sardar Jagvinder Singh
Virk (Binny), married Sardarni Rajinder Baldev Singh (Happy), daughter
of
Sardar Bahadur Sir General Baldev Singh, K.C.I.E., Commander-in-Chief
Jind State Forces, and the last Prime Minister of the Jind State, who
handed over the State to the Republic of India; and has issue.

Raymon Kaur [Rani
Sukriti Kumari of Nalagarh], born 1st September 1948, married 7th April
1968, Raja VIJAYENDRA SINGH of Nalagarh,
and has issue.
- Sardar Ujjal Singh, born 27th December 1895 in Sindh
Sagar Doab of the Punjab (now in Pakistan); educated at Gurmukhikalsa
Collegiate School, Amritsar and Government College, Lahore (M.A.
History); Member of the college Hockey XI; returned home to manage the
vast family acreage in
Multan district; M.L.C. (Punjab) 1926/1956; Member of the
Viceroy`s Consultative Committee on Reforms to 1932; Member of the
first Shiromani Gurdwara
Parbandhak Committee; Home Secretary in the
Unionist ministry in Punjab 1937/1942; Indian delegate to the Inited
Nations Conference on Food and Agriculture (Canada) in
1945; elected a Member of the Constituent Assembly in 1946; Minister of
Industries and Civil Supplies 1949/1956; Minister of Finance and
Industries 1949/1956; Member, Finance Commission 1956/1957; Member,
Punjabi University Commission 1960/-; Governor of the Punjab (1.9.1965)
- (27.6.1966); Governor of Tamil Nadu (28.6.1966) - (25.5.1971). He
died 15th February 1983 in New Delhi.
