Karen Thompson's request
for a Special General Meeting was refused because it did not
conform to ISQ Constitutional requirements on four (4) grounds.
(Read the
Letter from ISQ to Karen which
clearly states the reasons, and read the
ISQ Constitution
for yourself, sections 20.1.2 and 20.1)

Building Loganholme rink will not leave the ISQ with
unlimited financial exposure (read the recent
ISQ Treasurer's Letter
to all ISQ members (in this week's mail to you) and
False Rumour #1)
-
Acacia Ridge rink is not sold! Who started that rumour and
why?
It was the land on the other side of Motorama that was
sold.
(phone
REIQ or
see
False Rumour #2)
-
The ISQ has two (2) stated purposes (see
ISQ Constitution):
1. to promote all branches of figure skating, run
competitions and tests, and
2. to establish and maintain skating rinks.
-
The ISQ owns outright (no money owing) the Acacia Ridge and
Boondall rinks and the land at Loganholme, not the Trust. (see
Financial Statement at 2007 AGM)
-
The ISQ is run by
Councillors (see
ISQ Constitution).
-
The rinks are run as a separate business via a lease to the
No.1 Trust. (See the
ISQ President's statement on the
ISQ website or the
ISQ Constitution)
-
Only the ISQ Council can sell the rinks! The Trustees cannot!
(see Banks or Qld Titles Office legislation)
-
The Trustees (Don & Colin) hold a lease to manage ISQ's rink until
May 2009. (see Management Agreement)
-
The Trustees turned $120,000 in 1979 to $4 million + of ISQ assets
today - while many commercial rinks have failed. What other figure
skaters in the world
have it so good?
(see
Sport & Recreation Qld Audit Report).
-
The
Sport & Recreation Qld Audit Report stated that the longevity of the
Trust and the obvious success and business acumen of the Trustees
provided stability, not often seen in in similar commercial
ventures.
-
It urged us to protect the Trustees and the Treasurer by putting a
succession plan in place, so we learn to manage our assets as
successfully when they retire.
-
It also stated that there was a rigorous budgeting process
in place.
-
There is no such thing as a "Caretaker Council" or "Caretaker
Mode".

ISQ Constitution
for yourself).
