9th - 16th March 2008

This Ice Skating Seminar is really geared up for people who want to skate and ski and for those members of the family who do not skate at all! Every year we have part of the group who are non-skaters and come to join the group atmosphere and the great skiing!!!

The ice rink is just over 5 years old. It is a 10 minute walk from the hotel, in the sports complex there is a swimming pool and huge arcade for the youngsters! At the back of the ice rink there is a big congress centre where there are dance classes throughout the week and we have seem wonderful shows. This is free entrance for visitors to Andalo.

The course has been running over six years and averages 40 each year.

The seminar is for 90 minutes each day for 5 days. The whole group will do warm up exercises together and then we will split the groups accordingly. There will be an off ice warm up class before the group tuition. The dances that will be taught will be:

TBA for 2008. 2007's dances were:
  • Riverside Rhumba
  • Rialdo Samba
  • Palais Glide
  • Golden Skaters Waltz
  • Fiesta Tango

After the seminar there is opportunity to stay on for private lessons and practice with music.

The price of this session is approximately 4 euros (~ AU $6.70), there is a discount for the children.

The Olympic size ice rink, partially open on one side, is linked with a swimming pool and cafe. The rink itself is approximately 5 years old but has already been visited by some of the current Olympic Champions

The recently built Andalo Ice Stadium is an indoor construction with an artificial cooling system, equipped with all logistic services, open in summer and winter and harmoniously complements the services provided by the sports centre. The stadium is managed so as to satisfy the needs of the guests who want to have fun on the ice and also allows specialised sports groups to organize their activities without disturbance. The stadium stand is the ideal framework for organizing sports.

Coaches:

The courses are hosted by Master Coach David Lunn and Katie Bennett, who are both from the UK.
  • David has run courses worldwide as well as coaching in the UK for more than 30 years. Katie has introduced and organised the Skateaway courses for the past 7 years, as well as coaching competitive skaters. The courses have gained an outstanding reputation due the fact that both coaches have worked for many years with skaters of different standards from all over the world.

  • Katie says, 'The most important asset for an ice dance seminar is the destination. All ice rinks are the same, but if the ice rink is set in a beautiful city, ski town or picturesque village surrounded by mountains, the skaters dream of going back again and again’. She added. ‘A refreshing week of ice skating away from the regular strains of life with a group of people from all over the world with a like interest appears to revitalize our guests’.
