Skiing:

In the village, skiers and snowboarders have the choice of two ski lifts and a quad chairlift, or they can take the cable car to the Torrent ski area. More than 50 km of pistes, some of which have seen world-cup races, as well as the snowboard fun park provide a wealth of opportunities for pursuing your favourite hobby.

This season there are 2 new chair lifts and 4 pistes have been widened. The snowmaking system is one of the best in the Dolomites and now covers about 80% of the system. Everyone who skis here, whatever their standard, however much piste they are used to bashing, comes back with rave reports. Although the piste map covers only a medium sized area, it really is better than many household name resorts costing considerably more and we have no hesitation in recommending it to practically everyone...

Six ski lifts and a six-passenger gondola link the Torrent and Albinen ski area. Not only ski and snowboard fans, but also panorama lovers and sun worshippers can enjoy the scenic view of the four thousand meter high summits of the Valais Alps.

Ski and spa fun pass. Skiing and snowboarding all day and afterwards relaxing in the thermal baths. The ski and spa (fun) pass gives you access to all the ski lifts and cablecars in the Torrent ski area as well as to the lifts in the village. The pass also includes one visit per day either to the Lindner Alpentherme or the Burgerbad and many other services.

Hiking :

You are not into alpine or cross-country skiing? Not only ski enthusiasts but also panorama lovers and sun worshippers can enjoy the scenic views of the four thousand meter high peaks of the Valais Alps.

The passionate hiker can walk on 40 km of open trails and enjoy the crisp mountain air.

Other Activities::

Alternative activities and facilities include: 40kms of winter walking paths; mountaineering; paragliding; ice-skating; curling; mono-skiing or snowboarding at the terrain park or half-pipe. The indoor facilities for swimming and tennis, along with the fitness centre, offer other sporting options. Hotels provide most of the nightlife for Leukerbad, and the 50 restaurants also offer an entertaining alternative.

From the thermal waters, famous since Roman times, to the choice of good restaurants and facilities, a relaxing time away from the slopes at Leukerbad ski resort, is never far away. Accommodation is available in 28 hotels and there are 6,900 beds in apartments. Travellers with children are provided for with a kindergarten and ski school.

Apres-ski:

After an active day skating and on the ski runs you can lie back in the outdoor pool and relax in the warm thermal water and let the snow flakes dance all around you: this is the perfect way of experiencing
winter in Leukerbad!

Watch fantastic shows and fascinating performances at the fire and snow festival.

Fans of the highly unusual will also be delighted by the Leukerbad carnival. Sports and laughs are in store at the night jump contest and at the great end-of-season party, the Swiss snow happening.

The Torrent ski and spa fun pass gives you access to all facilities
in the Torrent ski area and in Leukerbad. The Torrent ski and spa
fun pass also includes one entry per day to the Linder Alpentherme
or Burgerbad and other tourist services such as: "Ring-Jet" local

Getting There:

Leukerbad is situated in Valais canton, which is located in SW Switzerland. Self-drive or a train/bus from Geneva are the options to consider when travelling to Leukerbad ski resort. Because the resort is only accessible by road, a bus from Leuk can bring you here.

By Car:

The roads to Leukerbad are excellent and also well-serviced in winter. Traffic in the village is restricted, in the town centre there is a ban on night-time traffic from 10 p.m. to 05.00 a.m.

There are 1350 parking spaces in car parks. We recommend our guests from Germany or the German-speaking part of Switzerland to put their cars on the train at Lötschberg.

By car from Calais, the route takes you to the cities of Reims, Dijon, Lausanne and Martigny. At Martigny, continue along the A-9 to Susten, and then head north to Leukerbad (900kms; nine hours).

From London by train, approximately 10 connections a day are available to Leuk. This route involves three to five changes and a journey time of between 10 and 17 hours. Eurostar has a convenient departure time of 08:12 from London (Waterloo) to Paris (Nord), where a short trip to gare de Lyon will then take you on the high-speed TGV link to Sierre. A change of train will get you to Leuk, where the bus takes you on to Leukerbad ski resort.

Other airports that can be considered for travel to Leukerbad ski resort are Zürich International Airport (four to five hours by train/bus) or the nearby Sion Airport (one hour away).

By train and Bus:

From London, a train to Leuk (near the resort) is possible. The majority of the SBB fast trains from Bern-Brig (Lötschberg) and Lausanne stop at Leuk. There is a direct LLB bus to Leukerbad every hour (Leuk/Leukerbad transport services). In addition, every Saturday and Sunday there are direct LLB busses from Goppenstein and Lötschberg to Leukerbad.

By Plane:

The route by air to Geneva, with transfer to Leukerbad by train and bus, is the most popular. Geneva-Cointrin is the nearest international airport to Leukerbad. The fast train from Geneva airport will take you to Leuk in just three hours, and from there you take the bus to Leukerbad. Also easily accessible by train and bus is Zurich-Airport in just 4.5 hours.  From Geneva-Cointrin Airport, take the eastern route around Lake Geneva, using the A-1 and A-9 autobahns, then head towards Susten, before continuing north to Leukerbad. The nearest international airport to Leukerbad is Geneva-Cointrin, and the connection by train to Leuk is a three-hour journey.

Alternatively, hiring a car from the airport will save 1 hour, 30 minutes on the journey.

Village: The village of Leukerbad is situated at the very end of the Dala valley (Dala is the name of the river) at an altitude of 1411 m above sea level. The spa village has been known for its hot springs since Roman times: about 3.9 million litres of 51°C warm thermal water per day flows into the indoor and outdoor pools of Leukerbad.

Thanks to the intact surroundings and the neighbouring towns' wealth in terms of nature, culture and tradition the entire Leuk region is certain to be an extraordinary holiday experience..
