Erosion and leachate control on landfill site

Judy Holt Park is a rehabilitated landfill site in the Redland Shire near Brisbane. However erosion and leachate discharge on the side slope were often severe in the wet seasons. Rehabilitation in the past has not been successful because the site was highly contaminated with heavy metals such as Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Nickel, Lead, Mercury, Selenium and Zinc. Due to the high level of tolerance to these heavy metals and rapid growth of vetiver grass, VS was able to effectively reduced leachate discharge and rehabilitate the highly erodible side slopes.
