My environment...

I live on a 10-acre property at Greenbank, on the southern outskirts of Brisbane. My large home has wide verandahs and high ceilings that make living very comfortable...even in our hot climate! I enjoy entertaining and eating outdoors most of the year round, and also appreciate a long, cool drink on the front verandah as the sun goes down and the kookaburras 'laugh' in the gum trees. I've taken some photographs of my  home that you might like to see.

The wildlife on the property is fascinating, and the birds, in particular, provide non-stop entertainment from dawn 'til dusk. Although I see flocks of cockatoos, galahs, parrots and lorikeets every day of the year, I can't resist taking the time (again!) to watch their antics and admire their plumage. Of course, the wildlife interest factor continues on after dusk, when the green tree-frogs, cane toads, owls and fruit bats appear to find their night's supply of food. Even dingoes prowl not far from the property, but the fences keep them out, so they cause no problems. I won't mention the snakes in any great detail!

The domestic animals include two German Shepherds, a cow, and chickens. The dogs are called Benson and Anka (from the same litter), and are two years old.

Benson is a large, loveable dog who likes to please. He loves to run along the fence every day when the school buses pass by. However, I've told him he won't be going to school as I can't afford the school uniform!!!
Anka doesn't want to go to school...she reckons she's smart enough already, and who am I to argue?

The two dogs are great mates who, if they're not asleep at the back door, are bounding through my garden beds. It's just as well I learned to plant "robust" species!

The drive into Brisbane from Greenbank takes about forty minutes, so I am able to enjoy the best of both worlds...the peace of the countryside, and the hustle-bustle of the city. This photograph was taken while on a trip up the Brisbane river on one of the many public transport catamarans which allow people to view their city from a completely different perspective.

The last of my personal pages provides information about the things that interest me. As I like to learn something new each day, you will discover that I have wide variety of interests!
