The Social Action Office is an initiative of the Conference of Leaders of Religious Institutes, Queensland (CLRIQ). It came into existence in October 1992 in response to the commitment of CLRIQ to promote collaborative social action within religious congregations and with others in the church and wider community.
This commitment stems largely from an emerging awareness within CLRIQ, and religious orders generally, of the value of social action - of analysing the causes of poverty and injustice and of taking action at these points to influence transformative change.
The Social Action Office is a 'resource' for religious orders and other individuals and groups working in social action ministry.
